The Rosary for Peace and Vocations is prayed following most Masses.

91st Anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparition at Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun (1917) – October 13th.  Our Lady appeared to the Fatima children seven times, culminating in the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, witnessed by 70,000 people.  This miracle is foretelling the coming glory of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament!  According to Our Lady, if her requests and directives are heeded, there will be great graces and mercy poured upon our world resulting in an era of peace.  The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph, and the promises will be fulfilled, when the Heart of her Son Jesus reigns throughout the world in Eucharistic Adoration!

“Rest in Peace” – Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of Rita Graham.  Please pray for Rita and for the peace and consolation of her family.  “Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.”

Please pray for Fr. Cousens and the other forty-one pilgrims during their pilgrimage to Fatima, Spain and Lourdes.  They will carry with them all the petitions recorded in the book that has been in church for the past weeks.  This book will remain in church for you to record your petitions until after the 11:00 a.m. Mass on October 12th.

This weekend we welcome members of the Serra Club to the 11:00 a.m. Mass.

·         A brief presentation about the work of the Serra Club will be given at the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. Mass by Ron Mazzoli, former member of the House of Representatives from the 3rd District.

  • Tithing:        Needed each week:          $5,769.00
                        Collected last week:           $8,236.97

The Serra Club will then have silhouettes of a priest and a religious sister in the Church Hall.  The boys and girls are invited to have their picture taken and receive a free picture from the Serra Club.

The Monthly Sale of Religious Articles will be held this weekend after the Masses.  Make every home a visibly Catholic home.  Check out the assortment of religious pictures, statues, crucifixes, etc.

Father Cousens will be away from the parish from October 13th to the 28th. After he returns from the pilgrimage on the 23rd, he will take a few additional days off.  During this time:

^       Fr. Joseph Hall will have the weekday Masses.

^       Fr. Stan Osborne will hear confessions on Tuesday evenings, and the deacons of the parish will conduct the Eucharistic Adoration.

^       There will be a missionary priest here for the Masses on the weekend of October 18th and 19th.  He will take up a special collection to help the missionary works of his community.

^       The weekend of October 25th and 26th will be a “St. Meinrad Sunday”.  Fr. Meinrad from St. Meinrad Archabbey and Seminary will have the Masses and speak on vocations and the work of the seminary.

See Dean Sears, the Parish Administrator, about any parish business.

“Trunk or Treat” at St. Christopher Church will be held Halloween Night, Friday, October 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Terry Rutledge of the parish will plan and coordinate this event, but additional workers are needed.  We also need at least twelve (12) decorated cars/trucks to pass out candy.  To volunteer for one or both of these needs, please fill out the flyer you will find at the doors of the church.

Christmas Bazaar – On the first three weekends of Advent following all three of the Masses, there will be a “Christmas Bazaar of Religious and Christmas items”.  Donations of new and “gently used” Christmas and religious items are requested for the bazaar. (Please note: only Christmas and religious items are requested.)  Proceeds will go to the parish Building Fund.

Life Chain 2008- On behalf of Right to Life Kentucky Heartland, a big thanks goes out to all who prayed and participated in the National Life Chain event last Sunday.  It was a great success with a total of 430+ people participating between Elizabethtown and Radcliff.  Radcliff alone had 150 people taking a stand for life and praying for the protection of the unborn.  What a great way to celebrate Respect Life Sunday.
